"The Lighthouse" Philosophy and Guidelines

As a Youth Group, we strive to grow inwardly
in hopes that it will shine outwardly.

Matthew 5:16~ “Let your light so shine before men,
that they may see your good works
and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Youth Group Overview

The Nehemiah Baptist Church Youth Group meets every
Wednesday night at 7pm and Sunday mornings at 10am.  We
enjoy singing, games, and studying God’s Word.  An emphasis
is put on memorization of scripture and sharing what we have
learned with others.  We also place a high importance on being
involved and reaching out to our friends, family, and into the
community.  Future goals include having a youth choir and
praise band.  We also look to eventually begin a “parents of
           teens” class.

Philosophy

Our desire as a group is to…

1.  Develop a deeper, personal relationship with God
                (Ephesians
4:14-15)

2.  Encourage soul winning  (Mark 16:15)

3.  Fully understand the Gospel and doctrine  (Titus 2:1)

4.  See how the Bible relates to us on a day to day basis
                 (II Timothy 3:16)

5.  Have fun as we fellowship and study God’s Word
                 (
I Corinthians 10:31)

Guidelines

     Adult Leadership (Proverbs 22:6; I. Timothy 4:12)

          1.  Must be an active member in the church.

            2.  Must be seen by the teens as having a close relationship
                 to God.

            3.  Must have a desire and “calling” to work with teens.

Qualifications for being in the Youth Group

            1.  Must be in the 6th grade or 12 years old by Dec. 31st of
                 that year.

             2.  Being a “student” of the Youth Group ends the year of
                   graduation
(or at the age of 19).

I. Corinthians 9:19-23
“For though I become free from all men,
yet have I made myself servant unto all,
that I might gain the more…
that I might by all means save some.”
